Estimator

Responsibilities:

  • Review plans and specifications to thoroughly understand the scope of a project and the project specific requirements relative to estimating the cost of the work.
  • Accurately estimate plan/spec and design/build HVAC and plumbing systems using computer estimating systems and related software
  • Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations and review for scope compliance.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of entire mechanical, plumbing, and process systems for Plan/Spec, Industrial, and Design/Build work.
  • Attend Pre-Bid Meetings when required.
  • Maintain files of working documents to back-up estimate calculations. Files should include current and accurate pricing information from suppliers and qualified subcontractor quotations.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Attend site visits and surveys to verify scope and apply it in the cost estimating process.
  • Review the details of estimates with management, prior to submission of our Company’s proposal.
  • Manage preconstruction RFI’s submitted and received on assigned project(s).
  • Participate in turnover meetings to project management teams.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other construction documents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC & Plumbing systems & their components.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer and software skills preferably in AutoBid, Excel, Bluebeam.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.

Preferred Experience

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or
  • 5+ years of field experience in HVAC, Plumbing, & Mechanical Piping or
  • 5+ years as Estimator in HVAC, Plumbing & Mechanical Piping.
Driver

Operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities.

Requirements:

  • Operate trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Operate trucks and construction or power equipment, such as backhoe, man-lift, front-end loader and boom truck.
  • Operate small equipment and tools as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
  • Maintains a driver’s log that may include recording of deliveries, pickups and mileage.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor that the incumbent has the ability to perform.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, four (4) years experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment.

Preferred Experience:

  •  Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Able to maintain simple records such as a driver’s log and mileage records.
  • Ability to observe proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.

 Licensing and Certification

  •  Valid Class “A” CDL license.
